A new beginning:

When I was growing up, all of my friends wanted to BE something - I always wanted to be a singer!

I would stand on the couch and sing into my hair brush, and pretend I was on stage.

Let’s just say - life became complicated with family and dreams were blurred and fell away….

Years went by and I found myself constantly telling my daughter, to follow her dreams and don’t let go!

Someone I worked with said to me in April 2022 “How can your girl look to you for advice, if you don’t follow your own dreams?”

That was it for me - it kick started me and I began to work with a studio.

One song was all I was looking at singing, a cover of Lady Gaga as I am a MASSIVE fan - recording and heaven forbid releasing but that all seemed like a pipe dream, and I had no idea how to do that.

March 2023 I finished my 7 song original & cover EP (even made old school hard copies) called Starting With Something.

The project was to showcase to people my range. When I look back on that part of my journey, it was one I needed to go through and one I will never regret - although it ended up being a very costly exercise.

I was in a job where stress levels were high, I would do an 8 hour day and be in the studio some nights for another 3 to 4 hours. When I got home I was exhausted and when I listen back to those songs I recorded (Living with the long goodbye, Forever Love & Think About) you can hear the vocal difference. Don’t get me wrong, I still love them, and that’s why I kept them in my music catalogue - the energy though, singing the songs I have written, recorded and produced myself since then - you can tell I have grown as an artist.

There’s been a shift in my creative processes and it’s lead to a much richer sound with euphoric sweet tones (mmmmm so good!).

I had been considering self-producing, and in the same month the EP came out I started a music production course with Women About Sound.

Suddenly I found myself writing endlessly, doing vocal recording in my home studio and I started to release my own work in August 2023.

I collaborate with Studio Engineer Ben from Lonely Hawk who mixes and masters all of my music - he’s responsible for bringing the entire music making experience to life!

I think the little girl on the couch singing into a hair brush would be damn proud of what I’ve accomplished in such a short amount of time. Talk about making up for lost time!

Although I would love to focus on my music career full time, for now, after I clock off, I work on my music, write, record and perform live. I’m a regular at open mic nights in Auckland and am planning on adding more live events to my schedule. Check back here for regular live show updates or follow me on Instagram and Facebook.

I am the HAPPIEST I have ever been in life, so if you’re wanting to go for your dreams, my advice is to shoot for the stars and climb higher! Don’t let anyone tell you that dreams don’t come true, work hard and see how rewarding it is!
